The Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Program Operators Course is a 48-hour program of instruction designed to provide organizations with the knowledge and skills necessary to create and implement an aviation program based on unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) platforms. The class follows this progression of student performances:

This course will focus on the necessary skills required by a UAS Visual Observer (VO) in support of either Part 107 pilot operations or operating under a Certificate of Authorization (COA).

The Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Aeronautical Knowledge Test for the Remote Pilot Airman Certificate is required to fly an unmanned aerial vehicle commercially (including public service).  This is particularly required for any mutual aid use of UAVs. This online course contains all of the material tested for the 107 pilot’s license.  The course is self-paced but follows a progression of information with due dates to aid in completing the material in a timely manner.  Online instructors engage students to answer questions and help with test preparation.  Common test questions and themes have been identified by former students and will be shared to increase focused study and student success rates.

The Implicit Bias and Community Policing Course satisfies the CA Identity Profiling legislative mandate (PC 13519.4) and is made up of student-centered learning activities that allow attendees to understand their own biases using neural science-based research in a safe environment.  The curriculum design avoids accusatory tones and focuses on objective facts revealed directly to each student by their own in-class discovery.  Students learn in a safe environment with exercises that reveal deep personal preferences (biases) on things that are not at all controversial.

This two-day course capitalizes on the significant experience of the professional UAV pilots that make up the instructor cadre.  Course instructors are among the first in the world to train with the LOKI 2 Tactical UAV.   We are fortunate to have public safety UAV experts who are flying missions for their agencies on a regular basis.  They are able to provide the most comprehensive scenario-based, hands-on training designed for the operational use of the LOKI 2 Tactical UAV.
